Part two of the STEM Tablet Robotics Kits included Dash Bots.
These cute little robots are controlled by an app called 'Blocky' which allows students to code their robots to move, talk, interact, etc. Students had two challenges: 1. to make their Dash Bot travel 1m 2. to make their Dash Bot go around a chair without touching it. Most were successful :) Last week 2S were challenged in Homework to make a robot or animal using recycled materials. It had to be able to withstand the weight of a full 2L milk bottle as well as be aesthetically pleasing.
We were all very impressed with the strength and look of the creations. Check them out below: We've been lucky enough to have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Kit in our class this week so we spent yesterday afternoon exploring and creating some Lego Robotics. We started with a fan then students could make whichever they'd like from the Wedo 2.0 app that accompanies it. The students loved it and can't wait to get creating again. This term 2S are looking at 'Light and Sound' in Science.
Students have enjoyed their learning so far and this week explored sound but making their very own percussion instruments. Check out some of their finished products. Congratulations to our award receivers from the past two weeks!
Pic 1: Wyatt, Nate, Martha & Cameron (reading award). Pic 2: Cameron & Hudson. Keep up the great work! Last week 2S took some time in Maths to put their skills to use and make pancakes!
The students followed the recipe start to finish accurately measuring all the ingredients, stirring, pouring, flipping and of course eating the pancakes. We had lots to delicious fun. |
